Ten years ago Victor Syperek and David Henry opened a modest 70 seat licensed café. Envisioning a simple
place for friends to meet and share a drink, little did the new entrepreneaurs know that their little adventure
would turn into their life's work. After ten years the little café has grown to include The Backstage, The Diamond and
The
Belgium Bar and has become the centre of an Argyle Street revitalization, and the place to go when visiting Halifax.
A fixture on Halifax's entertainment landscape, the "Shoe" is known as the place where creative ideas are hatched. Ideas that have
lead to many successful music, film, advertising and business endeavours that got their start within the walls of
this now "world-renown" establishment.
